LEARNING SPANISH

After spending so many years in English-speaking ministries, it is a change for us to switch to Spanish but we are loving the challenge and praying that we can continue to grow in our understanding and use of Spanish. Here Wanda is preparing to speak to a ladies’ seminar in Hendersonville, NC in both languages (en los dos idiomas.)

Teaching Bilingually

Learning Spanish will be a lifelong task for us. But we count it a privilege to serve the Lord in English or Spanish. Herb often preaches in Spanish and at times Wanda has shared a devotional with ladies in Spanish.

Preaching in Spanish

During December 2011 through February 2012 we concentrated further on our language studies. Wanda was tutored twice a week and Herb attended two Spanish classes twice a week. We ministered in two Spanish churches, participated in a Hispanic ministry summit in Florida in January and had many opportunities to stretch in our learning of Spanish. We desire to adequately communicate our love to Hispanics – to help them see their need of the gospel of Christ.

Wanda and her tutor Elena

During January through April 2011 we attended The Spanish Language Institute in San Jose, Costa Rica. We desire to learn the Spanish so we can better communicate the gospel to Hispanics and encourage Hispanic pastors to continue in their service to the Lord. We will continue our studies and will practice our Spanish as we meet, visit with and minister alongside Hispanics here in the states.

Our First Day of Language School

And just to show you that we have enjoyed learning Spanish . . . see the plaque below. We found this in a craft store in Pennsylvania and now it’s a part of our decor in our fifth-wheel trailer.
