Our Neighborhood Ministry

On July 16 we held a “Neighborhood Meet-n-Greet” in our home. For several years we have worked hard on trying to meet several of our neighbors. Finally, Wanda and several other ladies organized a “bring some finger food and a chair” gathering in our home and about 45 neighbors came and connected with one another. It was a great time to continue building relationships with those in our close mission field – our neighborhood!

These three girls participated in the “mini-camp” that Wanda led the end of July. How we pray that each of them will keep their hearts always in the Lord’s hands.

On July 28-30 Wanda took three teen girls on a “mini-camp” to Lake Bowen (Inman, SC.) They stayed for two nights in a home provided by gracious ministry partners, prepared meals together, had 5 Bible study sessions, went swimming, worked on a craft, relaxed, laughed, prayed and made memories together. We pray that what they learned will “stick with them” and guide their choices for their futures.

One of our “summer sons”, Josh Csire, married Hanna Alexander on July 30. We rejoice in the Lord’s leading in their lives and we pray that the Lord will bless them as they begin their years of service to the Lord together!

Time for a Quick Game

Our “summer sons” and another friend from our Spanish church assisted Herb with some work under our house one day this summer. They stopped long enough to challenge each other to three games of “ladder ball” before enjoying lunch at Chick-Fil-A. And besides, it was the birthday of one of our “summer sons”.

Two BJU students lived with us this summer. Josh and Felipe both are interested in serving in Hispanic ministries. We look forward to seeing how the Lord will use them in the future!

Ministry 3000 Miles Apart

Wanda continued to teach two teen girls throughout this summer. Here they are skyping with Hannah Till, a BJU student who assists Wanda with teaching when she’s at school and Rebecca Vasquez, a BCP missionary teen who visited with us in April. We were seeking to encourage all of us spiritually even many miles apart.

Able to Preach Again After Eye Surgery

On May 16 we discovered that Herb had a detached retina in his left eye. On May 17 he had surgery and for several weeks he had to rest and care for the healing of his eye. We rejoice that on June 5 he was able to preach again for the first time since the surgery. He continues to improve daily and we believe that he will receive his complete vision back once again!
