BEGINNING OF LORAIN OH CHURCH PLANT

EARLY BEGINNINGS OF THE LORAIN, OH CHURCH PLANT! This past Friday night we had a meeting at Baptist Church Planters for all those who are interested in helping with the church plant in Lorain, OH. Orlando and Debbie Collazo showed their ministry presentation and then Herb Taylor, Orlando Collazo and Pat Odle led in a question and answer time concerning the future of planting a Hispanic (bilingual) ministry in Lorain, OH. This group plans to start praying together on Wednesday nights at First Baptist of Elyria, OH (the mother church) while the Collazos travel on the weekends to continue raising their financial support. We are excited to see what God is doing in these very early beginning stages of a church plant!!

Partnering with Pastors

For five weeks we partnered with Pastor and Mrs. Fernando Gonzalez at the Hispanic Baptist Church in Waterloo, Iowa. We sought to encourage and help them in their ministry in any way possible. We were excited to see the Lord blessing with more in attendance and better finances. The need still is great . . . there are many to teach and disciple, wisdom is needed to balance work and church responsibilities (as Pastor Fernando is presently working a secular job as well) and more laborers are necessary to carry on the work.

Being Challenged by the Word

On Friday and Saturday, August 17-18 we had a Hispanic Retreat at the IRBC Camp at Clear Lake, IA. This event (in Spanish for the adults and in English for the teens and children) was a special encouragement to five different pastors and churches from Iowa, Minnesota and even Texas!

On Sunday evening, July 29, the Hispanic Baptist Church and Burton Ave. Baptist Church in Waterloo, Iowa had a joint baptismal service. Pastor Fernando Gonzalez was able to baptize four believers. We rejoice in this step of obedience. It is our joy to be here for five weeks – assisting the Hispanic Baptist Church.

To Lorain OH

Orlando and Debbie Collazo have been called to begin a Hispanic (bilingual) ministry in Lorain, OH. They are missionaries with Baptist Church Planters (part of our Hispanic ministry team) and they recently relocated to the Lorain, OH area. They are presently living in their RV at the home office of BCP while seeking to locate a place to live. We will help them as much as we can in these beginning stages of starting this new church plant in Lorain, OH. We rejoice in God’s leading! He writes the story!

We sought to provide resources, encourage discussion, share some updates and ideas, brainstorm a little, pray together and enjoy being together! it was great to be together!
