There was rarely time for any of us to sit down during the Missions Emphasis Week at BJU. We were busy listening intently (as shown here by Alberto and Adela Marquez) and eagerly sharing about opportunities to serve Christ.

During the BJU Missions Emphasis Week, we were kept busy answering questions about our ministries. We were excited about the response of many students who were especially interested in reaching Hispanics here in the states. We had about 50 students sign up to receive further information about Hispanic ministries with BCP.

During October 16-21, the Alberto Marquez family (one of our BCP Hispanic missionaries) teamed up with us at the Missions Emphasis Week at Bob Jones University in Greenville, SC. They lived in our fifth-wheel trailer while we stayed in campus housing for the week. Together we manned our BCP booth and were able to talk to many students about the possibility of serving the Lord through BCP ministries. It was a great week of ministry! (This picture was actually taken at the very end of the week . . . so we look pretty good in spite of standing our feet for a long time!)

On Tuesday, September 27, Orlando and Debbie Collazo were approved to be missionaries with Baptist Church Planters. Orlando and Debbie, both Puerto Ricans, served for 12 years at Iglesia Bautista Evangelical in Philadelphia, PA. After completion of seminary training in May 2012 at Calvary Baptist Theological Seminary in Lansdale, PA, the Collazos plan to start a Hispanic Baptist church in Lorain, Ohio.

Orlando and Debbie Collazo are here this week at Baptist Church Planters (Grafton, OH) in our BCP Candidate School. They are seeking to become missionaries with Baptist Church Planters and desire to plant a Baptist church in Lorain, Ohio. This has been a prayer burden of David Whitcher and others for many years – to see a Hispanic work established in Lorain, OH.

It was our privilege to minister with Pastor and Mrs. Fernando Gonzalez and their children during the month of August as we helped them and their church family at Iglesia Bautista Hispana in Waterloo, Iowa. The Lord knit our hearts together and we look forward to seeing how the Lord will continue HIS work there in Waterloo.

Pastor Fernando Gonzalez and Herb – serving together in reaching Hispanics. Pastor Gonzalez is the pastor of Iglesia Bautista Hispana in Waterloo, Iowa. We sought to encourage him and his family as we ministered with them during the month of August. Several churches in the area have committed to carrying on the encouragement and we are planning to hopefully return next August to this church once again.

After the evening service on Sunday, August 14 at Walnut Ridge Baptist Church (we shared our ministry in that service), Pastor Ron Graef of Walnut Ridge asked Pastor Fernando Gonzalez of the Hispanic church to come to the front for special prayer. We are praying that the Lord will keep Pastor Gonzalez and his church family encouraged and serving the Lord even more in the future.
