On Sunday evening, August 14 we shared the need about “Reaching Hispanics: Our Neighbors” at Walnut Ridge Baptist Church in Waterloo, Iowa. This was especially meaningful to this church as just about 12 blocks from their church is Iglesia Bautista Hispana (Hispanic Baptist Church), where we are ministering for the month of August. Walnut Ridge has been so gracious in assisting the Spanish ministry – reaching Hispanics . . . they really are their neighbors!
This month we are helping Iglesia Bautista Hispana (Hispanic Baptist Church) in Waterloo, Iowa. This is a church plant of Baptist Church Planters and they are in need of some real encouragement right now. Please pray that we will have wisdom to know how to best encourage Pastor and Mrs. Fernando Gonzalez and the ministry here in Waterloo.

We recently replaced all six of the tires on our dual wheel, dual cab 1 ton Dodge truck. We were especially thrilled when two churches sent us their offerings from VBS and their gifts were enough to pay for all of the tires! Praise HIM for His provision!
On Saturday, July 16 we exchanged young people. Bob Hicks picked up his two children, Calvin and Grace, after they served with us in ministry for one week. The Sosa family brought us one of their sons, Matthew, to spend this week with us. We enjoy having young people with us while we travel on deputation and explain about Hispanic ministries in the United States. We love challenging them spiritually and exposing them to many ministry opportunities.
After serving together in VBS at Biblical Baptist Church in Meshoppen, PA (July 11-15) we are still smiling. We had two helpers for the week from our home church. It’s our prayer that their time with us and in the ministry might encourage them spiritually and might help them follow the Lord in ministry someday.
On July 11-15 we led a VBS in Meshoppen, PA. Calvin (13) and Grace (10) Hicks (from our home church, Skyline Baptist Church in Front Royal, VA) traveled with us and assisted us in VBS. Calvin was a great helper with the game time. Here Calvin and Herb stopped long enough to quickly pose one evening at VBS. Maybe someday Calvin will lead VBS games or serve the Lord in some other way. That’s our prayer!
On July 11-15 we led a VBS entitled “Traveling with Jesus” at Biblical Baptist Church in Meshoppen, PA. We sought to clearly teach the “signs to salvation and service”.
