Traveling Taylor Boot Camp

Traveling Taylor Boot Camp

For several years when we lived in Front Royal and ministered at Skyline Baptist Church, we had what was called “Taylor Boot Camp” where we had about 14 older juniors and teens spend the week at our house. They participated in daily devotions, chores, projects and ministry. Well, we are carrying on that tradition and on July 8-15 we had Calvin Hicks (13) and Grace Hicks (10) travel, live and work with us. They helped us lead a week of VBS at Biblical Baptist Church in Meshoppen, PA. We were grateful for our helpers and loved having them with us. We knew Calvin and Grace’s parents before Calvin and Grace were even born. Special memories!

Several young prayer partners at our home church, Skyline Baptist Church in Front Royal, VA often encourage us through their thoughts, prayers and cards. Here they are presenting us with a reminder of those thoughts and prayers as we travel and minister in Hispanic ministries

A Highlight in our Family Life

A Highlight in our Family Life

On Saturday, May 7 our son, Benjamin graduated from Bob Jones University. We are so grateful for the Lord’s provision to make this accomplishment possible. Over the past four years, Benjamin was busy with classes, working for Campus Security, participating in his local church and leading two ministry teams, The Master’s Men (a men’s quartet that spends many weekends preaching and singing) and Team IMPACT (a karate ministry team). On Friday, May 6, at the Awards Program, Benjamin received the “Evangelism Award” – given to the young man who exemplifies a heart for evangelism. The award came with a gift of $2,500 and a lifetime membership to the BJU Alumni Association. We wiped away a few tears of gratefulness to the Lord!

Hispanic Ministry in Seminole FL

On Sunday, May 1 we attended the services of the “Iglesia Bautista Hispana Starkey Road” in Seminole, Florida. We briefly visited with Pastor and Mrs. Miguel Quintana (fellow missionaries with Baptist Church Planters). It was a joy to be in their service and to understand much of the Spanish-speaking service!

Have Home . . . Will Travel

Have Home Will Travel

On April 29 we hooked up our truck to our trailer and pulled out of Titusville, FL. We had left our trailer in Titusville for the four months that we were in language school in Costa Rica. We are so grateful for Bob and Marge Williams and their willingness to “trailer and truck sit” while we were away. It felt strange to be pulling our “house on wheels” with us once again but it also felt very natural. Please pray for us as we continue seeking to travel and raise our financial and prayer support team this year and as we began our new responsibilities with Herb being the Hispanic Coordinator of Baptist Church Planters.

Our Mam Tica

On Thursday, April 28 we were able to visit with our Mamá Tica (our hostess in Costa Rica the past four months) but this time we were together in Orlando, Florida. She is here in the states visiting her daughters and we were able to briefly visit with her too. It was strange to see her here in the U.S. but it was great to visit. We continue to pray for her and her understanding of God’s love and purpose in her life.
