We have rejoiced to visit with Marisol and her husband, Joe this week while ministering here at Faith Baptist Church in Toms River, NJ. (Marisol was saved last year when we were here for meetings.) It has also been our privilege to meet their daughter, Stephanie, who came to know the Lord within this past year. It is so exciting to see God’s continuing grace at work in lives!
A real highlight this week has been seeing Marisol (a Hispanic) who was saved last year on Sunday morning, November 15 while we were here in meetings. Herb saw her crying during the service – truly under conviction – and immediately after the service she came to him and asked to talk to someone about her soul. She and her husband are still here, are members now and are rejoicing in the Lord changing her life. Since then her daughter has also been saved. Last night we heard her encouraging another Hispanic woman about coming to Christ. So . . . it’s these blessings that help keep us going in serving HIM!
On Sunday, November 14 we ministered at Calvary Baptist Church in Lancaster, OH. It was a joy to be with this church for the first time. We presented a power point in Sunday School on “Reaching Hispanics: Our Neighbors” – which gives the facts about Hispanics, the Biblical attitude we should have toward them and ideas on how to minister to them. In the Sunday morning service Herb preached on “Five Essentials for the Local Church” and then in the evening we showed our self-narrated 13 minute personal power point presentation which specifically depicts our particular ministry.
We have often found that ministry “up close” and personal is great. It’s those times after a service, when one-on-one we are able to speak with people, that sometimes the Lord uses to really cement a thought, deal with an attitude or encourage a heart. We rejoice in the privilege to serve HIM in so many ways.
On Thursday, November 11 we had our “maiden voyage” as we traveled from Front Royal, VA to Grafton, OH with our new truck and trailer. We managed to arrive in time so we could attend the Bible study at the home of David and Melissa Whitcher in Lorain, OH (the Whitchers and Palmers are our team members in starting the church in Lorain). We spent the next day parked at the home office of our mission agency, Baptist Church Planters, and then traveled on Saturday, November 13 to Calvary Baptist Church in Lancaster. OH.
On Sunday, November 7 Skyline Baptist Church in Front Royal, VA celebrated 50 years of ministry. In those 50 years, the church has had three pastors. Two of the three former pastors were able to attend the celebration – Pastor and Mrs. Dave Birch (center) and Pastor and Mrs. Herb Taylor (that’s us on the left). Pastor and Mrs. Randy DeSantis are currently serving at Skyline Baptist Church.
The Master’s Men (a group that our son, Ben started several years ago) gave a sacred musical concert at our home church on Saturday, November 6 and ministered in music on Sunday, November 7. Matt Galvan, Nehemiah White, Andrew Harry, Benjamin Taylor and Lynn Nelson (pianist) gave their best in sharing Christ-honoring music. Skyline Baptist Church was celebrating its 50th anniversary of ministry.
