KCEA Conference

On September 23-24 we ministered at the Keystone Christian Educator’s Association conference in Lancaster, PA. Herb presented a workshop “Reaching Hispanics: Our Neighbors” and participated in a panel discussion concerning the need of reaching Hispanics in the U.S.. Wanda taught two workshops – one entitled “Impacting the Next Generation: Practical Ideas on Encouraging Spiritual Development in our Children” and another one entitled “Teaching that Impacts the Heart: Preparing the Teacher for Teaching”. It was a privilege to minister in such a way and we thoroughly enjoyed being able to meet others concerned about reaching Hispanics and other ethnic groups for the Lord.

Renewing Fellowship

It was a joy to renew fellowship and encourage one another in the Lord and His work as we visited with Pastor and Mrs. Jim Truax at Dexter Baptist Church in Wellsboro, PA the past few days. We were at this church (in their old building) MANY years ago. We rejoice with them that they were able to pay off their new building in just four years. What a blessing!

We ministered at this church many times years ago when we traveled in missionary evangelism. We recently shared our new ministry with this church family on Sunday, September 12. We figured it had been 10 years since we had been to this church but we rejoiced to see many of the same faithful church families still seeking to serve the Lord. We are praying for them especially as their pastor moved the very day we arrived. We missed seeing him and his wife by only a few hours. We pray that the Lord will lead God’s man to this church soon. (By the way, do you see the “tail end” of our trailer?)

Speaking Spanish

Speaking Spanish

On Sunday evening, August 29 Herb preached in Spanish at Tabernaculo Bautista Iglesia in Winchester, VA. He did a great job – that’s not an easy task – and many complimented his Spanish saying, “I understood everything you said” and “You read Spanish better than I do”. That was encouraging to hear!

Skyline Baptist Church

Skyline Baptist Church

This past Sunday morning, August 29 we were able to visit at our home church, Skyline Baptist Church in Front Royal, VA. We first came to SBC back in 1994 when we held a week of special meetings. During our years of traveling in missionary evangelism, we would often used this church as our “home base” and we actually spent two winters parked in our fifth-wheel in the church parking lot assisting Pastor David Birch in the ministry here. Herb was then the pastor of SBC from June 2001 to January 2010 and now this church family is our sending church. We are grateful for their support and encouragement as we continue this new “venture” in ministry.
