Our Deputation Travels

Our deputation travels take us to all kinds of places. We had the blessing of ministering with Pastor and Mrs. Gillam in Camden, Maine this past week (June 27-July2) – a popular place for tourists in the summer and fall. Here is a little glimpse of why it is so popular.

Seafood Everywhere

We enjoyed lunch today with Pastor and Mrs. Gillam at this restaurant. Of course, we sat where we could enjoy the view of the bay as well. It has been a blessing visiting with Pastor and Mrs. Gillam this week as well – faithful servants of the Lord for many years!

Today (July 1) we drove up Mt. Battie which overlooks the town of Camden, ME. We marveled at the beauty of God’s creation. Too bad all of the tourists don’t recognize His handiwork too!

New England Town

The town of Camden, Maine is very attractive – no wonder so many people love to come here in the sumer. We walked the streets, glanced through some shops, sat on a deck while Herb enjoyed a free coffee, watched a schooner slide into the dock, took lots of pictures (of course) and just enjoyed the beautiful afternoon – a rare and enjoyable treat! It’s been a busy week with the missions conference so it was nice to walk around and relax some this afternoon!

Week of VBS long ago!

Week of VBS long ago

We ministered at Augusta Baptist Church in Augusta, ME on Tuesday, June 29 as part of the missions conference. We led a week of VBS here at this church many years ago. An 18 year old young man said he remembered having us teach him in VBS and now he is heading off to a christian college this fall. It is great to see ones to whom we have ministered continue on in the Lord. Also, the daughter of Pearl Robinson (a longtime member of our home church) surprised us with her visit on Tuesday night, June 29.

We ministered at Burnham Baptist Church in Burnham, ME on Monday, June 28. Pastor Al Thibault is the pastor – a longtime and dear friend of ours. We enjoyed meeting his congregation. All three churches of the missions conference met here again on Wednesday evening, June 30 to conclude the conference.

We enjoyed parking our home at Cornerstone Baptist Church in Camden, ME the week of June 27. We made sure we walked every day as the church family fed us so well and we enjoyed the pleasant weather and scenery so much. It was refreshing to be parked here for the week while ministering in the missions conference.

Isn’t this a beautiful church? It certainly looks like a New England setting. It was so peaceful here while we were parked with our trailer at this location (June 27-30). We heard no sirens all week – in fact we were surrounded by the woods (still very close to town) and enjoyed the very peaceful quiet. At one point I stopped and listened and could hear nothing but birds and a slight breeze. Amazing!
